My Top Nine Best Travels in 2016

7th year of my travel addictiveness, adventures that made me want to go back there
2016 "the viewing deck" year-ender report

“Take a leap of faith and begin this wondrous new year by believing. Believe in yourself. And believe that there is a loving Source - a Sower of Dreams - just waiting to be asked to help you make your dreams come true.” – Sarah Ban Breathnach

Recalling the moment when I've been asked what are my dream destinations, I told them only the places I think I can possibly achieve that time based on the resources and capabilities I had. Six years after that simple question, I still could not believe I already been visited the places which I only just watch in movies and "Amazing Race" routes. I consider 2016 as "the leap of faith" year of my travel addictiveness because of the following reasons;

1. visited a total of 3 countries, continuation of the Asia tour since I resigned from my work in November 2015.
2. hiked 6 mountains locally in which 4 of them are minor and the other 2 are major.
3. countless beachbumming and island hopping despite of very budgeted trip.
4. no work for almost a year until the "leap of faith" positive result came in October.

My Top Nine Best Travels in 2016

Brunei

Independence Day Hike in Mt. Makiling, Laguna

DIY day-tour in Bolinao, Pangasinan

I ranked these posts based on the adventure I have encountered, budget and how happy and satisfied I am through the planning, journey and the outcome.
February 17 to 19, 2016
- this trip is astonishing because this is 10th country to sweep and complete the Southeast Asia countries, only remaining is Timor Leste (hoping to finalize in 2017)

8th: Mt. Makiling (an adventure nearby the metro)
June 12, 2016
- this trip is astonishing because this a hike-tribute to the Philippine Independence Day, proud to bring my beloved flag to the summit.

May 25, 2016
- this trip is astonishing because this was my 19th trip self-organized budget family trip and my first time of my family to visit the province of Pangasinan.

Gigantes Island, Iloilo

Above the Mt. Mariveles, Bataan

September 12, 2016
- this trip is astonishing because of the priceless feeling of reaching-out those behind the mountains despite the strong rain with muddy and slippery trails.

5th: Panay Island (white sand beach hopping)
July 07 to 12, 2016
- this trip is astonishing because of the pristine white sands just nearby of a Visayan Island visited via road trip and ferry only.
May 29, 2016
- this trip is astonishing because I consider this trek as my most brutal, most knee-wrecking and most challenging trek on a extended day-hike. Lots of "limatik" (leech-type) from Pantingan Peak assault to El Saco Peak descent. I had 3 "limatik" encounters on my lower leg and face that were finger-strike immediately.

Smith Volcano in Babuyan Island, Cagayan, Philippines

Beats on the Beach in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

3rd: Babuyan Islands (the best of Northern Islands)
May 11 to 19, 2016
- this trip is astonishing because the weather befriended as throughout the trip. Thank you very much Babuyan Group of Islands; an excellent prize for long boat rides in between Philippine Sea and Pacific Ocean; priceless reward for long bus trip from Manila to northernmost mainland part of the Philippines. Proud to self-organized this trip with my friends..
October 23, 2016 to present
- this trip is astonishing because the leap of faith that I embraced since last November 2015 resulted to an unbelievable work journey. I have been waiting for this and hopefully this will be my final work place.

1st: Nepal (5,416m summit solo climb)
January 06 to 21, 2016
- this trip is astonishing because I managed to summit the 5,416masl on a self-guided solo basis despite the hardship of winter effect and budget-constraint. Practically all trekkers hike the route counter clockwise (Besisahar to Manang to Thorong La to Poon Hill to ABC to Pokhara), as the daily altitude gain is slower and crossing the high Thorong La pass is easier and safer.
