A Night at Circque Du Soleil in SM Arena

bringing world-class entertainment in the heart of Manila
august 16, 2012 thursday

After capturing my attention on their advertised performance in Rizal Park, Manila city last 2011, I was curious how well did they gain their fame on this field of entertainment. Year after, it just happened upon vacation with my cousin as the one who notified me that their is repear performance. So I immediately went to the web and search the best schedule and economical ticket prices. Good to know there are seats available which are affordable on ordinary people like me. And so there it goes, I booked 2 tickets on weekday night due this is much cheaper compared to weekends.

Cirque du Soleil ("Circus of the Sun") is a Canadian entertainment company, self-described as a "dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment." Based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and located in the inner-city area of Saint-Michel, it was founded in Baie-Saint-Paul in 1984 by two former street performers, Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix. Initially named Les Échassiers. Le Grand Tour du Cirque du Soleil was a success in 1984, and after securing a second year of funding, Laliberté hired Guy Caron from the National Circus School to re-create it as a "proper circus". Its theatrical, character-driven approach and the absence of performing animals helped define Cirque du Soleil as the contemporary circus ("nouveau cirque") that it remains today.

Saltimbanco is Cirque du Soleil’s longest-running touring show and has performed since 1992. With a cast of 50 high-caliber artists hailing from 20 different countries, Saltimbanco- from the Italian “saltare in banco,” which literally means “to jump on a bench”- explores the urban experience in all its myriad forms: the people who live there, their idiosyncrasies and likeness, families and groups, the hustle and bustle of the street and the towering heights of skyscrapers. A signature show, it is inspired by the urban fabric of the metropolis and its colorful inhabitants.
