PGE Zoom Call: Masterclass Guesting on Travel Light Tips

28-May-2020 Thursday Zoom Meeting in the midst of pandemic period

We are Certified Pinoy Travelholic because...

I was invited by one of the Philippine passport holders most traveled Mr. Jon last January 2020 to join the newly-founded Philippine Global Explorers (PGE) facebook group. To my surprise, I've got an honor as one of the guests during the PGE's 1st Masterclass session Zoom meeting in which he was also the moderator. The Masterclass topic was about travelling light based on my personality. In order to achieve my backpacking style, I should equip myself with my natural principle in life which is being practical or to go with minimum carried items. The following quotes about Travel Minimalism guides me how to pack my things and how to prepare myself before travel; bringing less materials so that I can fully enjoy the excitement on the road.

"The secret of happiness, you see, is not found in seeking more, but in developing the capacity to enjoy less." - Socrates

"The consumption society has made us feel that happiness lies in having things, and has failed to teach us the happiness of not having things." - Elise Bounding

ADVANTAGES OF TRAVELING LIGHT
1. Time and budget saver
2. Easy and less time to pack, more time on the road
3. Easy to buy local / souvenir items (my purpose in case for that extra space)
4. Less strain on back, shoulder or other body parts
5. Less worry about left items / luggage or storage lockers
6. Keeps your mind clear, have enough concentration on the road
7. Walking on the street / road / trail is very much comfortable - can move quickly from place to place
8. Somehow blend with the locals, as much as possible, I’d like to be looked local / normal to ordinary sighting

DIS-ADVANTAGES OF TRAVELING LIGHT
1. Invest on very good quality that fits your needs
2. Since you only have 1 bag, be very cautious on your surrounding
3. Sometimes those items you forgot / left to bring would help a lot (i.e. tripod for night shots, poncho for sudden rains along the trail, jacket for unbearable coldness, party attire for presentable night life)

  1. Amazing photos sir. I've always wanted to try adventure back packing rather than city trips. These are great packing tips, much thanks.
