how to go there;
From beirut international airport, the cheapest way is to ride a roaming van on the 2nd floor and ask driver to drop-off to central with fare of only 1,000 lbp ($0.67). If taxi, negotiate to a maximum of 30,000 lbp ($20.0) since it is only 7 kilometers away.

Woke-up around 0700H, I started the rounds by visiting first the central, Nejme Square (Place de l'Étoile), Roman Baths, churches, then to baywalk and finally bus #15 going to Rawcheh rocks. I did my brunch in the bay rock which has a veranda overlooking those marvelous pigeon rocks across the Mediterranean sea.

Beirut (Beyrouth in French) is the capital and largest city of Lebanon. The Beirut metropolitan area consists of the city and its suburbs. The first mention of this metropolis is found in the ancient Egyptian Tell el Amarna letters, dating from the 15th century BC. The city has been inhabited continuously since then. In Travel + Leisure magazine's World Best Awards 2006, it was ranked 9th best city in the world. That list was voted upon shortly before the 2006 Lebanon War broke out. Many of the tourists are returning Lebanese expatriates, but many are from Western countries.

  2. @Ian, though the military is even much visible anywhere thna my experience in Basilan, Lebanon is very very safe. I even make conversations to this army, they are friendly and don't look like scary. I rate my experience as the best backpacking I had, indeed a remarkable. Definitely, I wanna go back.
