Isabela is the second largest province of the Philippines next to Palawan, located in the Cagayan Valley Region in Luzon.It was initially called Isabela de Luzon to differentiate from other places in the Philippines bearing the name of Isabela. The new province was named in honor of Queen Isabela II of Spain.

after spelunking, i have to go on my way up to isabela. getting to santiago city's calvary hills and monastery of transformation (isabela's capital) is somehow the city's only main tourist attraction as advised by the quirino and isabela locals. calvary hills, also known as the grotto or dariuk hills, is located 10 kms off the city proper. it is required to hire a tricycle roundtrip with fare from php150-200. free admission on this place.
