103rd on my continuing saga beyond the #lakbay100 journey
August 23, 2019
My 80th solo backpacking trip, 20th country to visit in Asian continent, 103rd country visited on my journey beyond #lakbay100, 6th continent on my list and of course and usual budget do-it-yourself itinerary from arrival to departure. I did not research that much for this country due also on limited time and laziness.
Another e-visa eligibility privilege for Philippine passport holders #djibouti #africa #lakbay100.
Djibouti's climate is very hot, humid and arid, especially in the summer. The summer heat is moderated, however, by a sustained breeze in the coastal city of Djibouti. From October to April, the temperature is cooler, with occasional rain. Cyclones from the Indian Ocean create heavy rains and flash flooding.

1.Djibouti was part of the French colony of Somaliland from 1888 to 1977. It was the capital from 1894.
2. Lac Assal, a crater lake in the centre of Djibouti, is 10 times saltier than the sea. In fact, it’s the second saltiest body of water in the world after Don Juan Pond in Antarctica.
3. At 155m below sea level, Lac Assal is the lowest point in Africa and the third lowest point in the world after the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee.
4. Djibouti is positioned on a plain known as the Afar Triple Junction where three divergent segments of the Earth’s crust – the African, Somalian, and Arabian plates – are tearing away from each other.
5. At 23,200 sq km (8,958 sq mi), Djibouti is the third smallest country in continental Africa, after Swaziland (second smallest) and Gambia (smallest).

I decided to shortened my supposedly 2 days weekend trip due to the following;
1. Tremendous summer heat on the streets
2. Very expensive cost of tourist living to think that the cost is not worth the tourist spot
3. My hostel for 1 night costs $40 for a single room with no wifi and NO electricity for more than 2 hours since I checked-in
First time I shortened my weekend trip due to tremendous summer heat and very expensive cost of tourist living :( Sorry and Thank You Djibouti... 2019's 16th country visited, 80th solo trip, 20th in Africa and 103rd country beyond #lakbay100 :) #livealifeyouwillremember #djibouti
