Uffizi Gallery (Galleria degli Uffizi) is the big one, take a long walk through some of the most famous paintings in arguably the most prestigious of European Galleries. Dante's House (Casa de Dante) is where you know the life and inspiration of the Great Poet in this Alghieri's family house. If not you may laced in the Inferno's Hell or worse Purgatory and heaven. Entrance fee costs 4 Euro. Photography and video is allowed. Souvenirs available inside.

Santo Croce is one of the most sacred places in all of Florence. It is yet another Arnolfo di Cambio structures and is now the burial place of the greatest of the greats of Florentine birth; Michelangelo, Rossini, Machiavelli and Galileo Galilei. There is also a curious memorial to Dante although his sarcophagus remains empty.
Santa Maria Novella Church is the impressive church just right outside the Florence train station.
San Lorenzo Church is the oldest church in Florence dating back to 393 AD, is a peculiar and unique structure. Rebuilt by none other than Brother Brunelleschi in 1419. If the exterior looks a bit rough its because the facade which was designed by Michelangelo, was never added. The interior is grandiose and spacious with huge columns. Bronze pulpits (1460) are actually Donatello's last works.
