vietnam, cambodia and laos 11th solo backpacking tour
august 24 - september 1, 2011
wednesday to thursday
objective: to visit the best tourist spot that fits to my budget at limited amount of time.
additional tasks: lost half of my pocket-money in day 1... show must go on for the planned itinerary no matter how it takes
angkor archaeological park solo day-tour
angkor archaeological park (angkor wat)
angkor archaeological park (angkor thom)
angkor archaeological park (ta phrom)
continued...
8. BANTREAY SREI
Banteay Srei temple was founded by an important dignitary who served during the reign of Rajendravarman and then in the reign of Jayavarman V. Commenced in 967 AD, this work attracted the support of his brother and sister, as attested by inscriptions on the stone door jambs of the lateral sanctuaries of the central group
9. SRAS SRANG
At present Srah Srang measures 700 by 350 m and is still partially flooded. As other barays, maybe there was a temple standing on an artificial island in the middle of it, as suggested by finding of a basement. The landing-stage, opposite the entrance to Banteay Kdei, is a popular site for viewing the sunrise. It is cruciform, flanked by naga balaustrades which end with the upright head of a serpent, mounted by a garuda with its wings unfurled. The steps that lead down to the water are flanked by two guardian lions
10. PRASAT KRAVAN
Prasat Kravan is a brick temple built in the first half of the 10th century. The name Prasat Kravan means “cardamon sanctuary”, referring to a cardamon tree that once grew in the temple’s central tower. Prasat Kravan’s carvings are the only brick bas-reliefs in Angkor.
MY REMARKS;
* it is advisable to contract a tuktuk or a motodup the night before
* ANGKOR WAT, ANGKOR THOM and TA PHROM are the major ruins not to missed-out.
* souvenirs are way cheaper here compared to siem reap downtown, try to negotiate more.
siem reap downtown night stroll
