vietnam, cambodia and laos 11th solo backpacking tour
august 24 - september 1, 2011 wednesday to thursday
objective: to visit the best tourist spot that fits to my budget at limited amount of time.
additional tasks: lost half of my pocket-money in day 1... show must go on for the planned itinerary no matter how it takes
day 0: ho chi minh city arrival at night
day 1: ho chi minh to siem reap bus trip
day 2: angkor archaeological park solo day-tour
day 3: siem reap to 4,000 islands bus trip
day 4: champasak province (southern laos) solo day-tour
continued...
DAY FIVE:
PAKSE CITY (LAOS) TO PHNOM PENH CITY (CAMBODIA) BUS TRIP
pakse city (laos) to phnom penh city (cambodia) bus travel time took approximately 12 hours including the stop-overs and crossborder checkpoint.
this time i was correct. booking directly to the bus terminal was much cheaper compared to booking in a hotel. but the thing was my guesthouse was exactly inside the bus terminal so double bulls-eye somehow.
goodbye pakse city, goodbye laos !
same procedure everytime to entry/exit this border, you have to pay $2 for laos authorities and $2 for cambodia, total of $4 of pain in budget. again no questions asked, just stamp and in a matter of less than 10 mins, im already in the cambodia land, farewell laos!
after befriending a fellow chinese solo backpacker last day, another solo backpacker has been in the line but this time she's a filipina. i just know there was a fellow filipino when i saw another pilipinas passport in laos immigration departure table. and fortunately, she noticed me to by the local sovenir shirt im wearing at that time. she even helped me also on all the stuff i needed in touring phnom penh city. true filipino travelers do have this instinct of assisting each other.
I went out for night shots along the independence monument, foot massage afterwards nearby then sleep.
day 5 expenses: (@ php43/usd)
* bus fare to phnom penh = $27 = php1,161
* crossborder immigration fees = $4 = php172
* foot massage = $4 = php172
* dinner and tuktuk fees was treated by fellow backpacker
TOTAL : php1,505
day 6: phnom penh city solo half-day tour
