Moscow City Tour 2nd Part; Celebration in the Red Square

12 Days Solo Backpacking in Summer Russia (Trans-Siberia Train Ride)

When I arrived in Moscow on my entire journey, there was a celebration held in the Red Square which is the Moscow's 870th anniversary (held at the back in-front of Teatralnaya Metro station in green line 2) and the Spasskaya Tower Military Festival (at the entire Red Square itself). As such, the crowd is too much and the security is tight everywhere with lots of police roaming around, I did not have a good shot of the St. Basil's Cathedral at far.
St. Basil Cathedral is the signature landmark of Russia for its colorful onion-shape dome architecture. Open daily from 1100H to 1800H with admission fee is 500 Rubles ($9), photography and amateur videography is allowed. Tour can be finish in less than an hour.

Red Square is a city square (plaza) that separates the Kremlin, the former royal citadel and currently the official residence of the President of Russia, from a historic merchant quarter known as Kitai-gorod. Red Square is often considered the central square of Moscow since Moscow's major streets, which connect to Russia's major highways, originate from the square. The name Red Square neither originates from the pigment of the surrounding bricks nor from the link between the colour red and communism. Rather, the name came about because the Russian word krasnaya, which means both "red" and "beautiful," was applied to a small area between St. Basil's Cathedral, the Spassky Tower of the Kremlin, and the herald's platform called Lobnoe Mesto.
