Zambales - Tarlac 2 Days Laidback Trip (Liwliwa - Isdaan)

a laidback trip before going back as an OFW
august 20-21, 2012 monday-tuesday

"I travel not to go anywhere but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move." - R. L. Stevenson

Nothing much to say, I made this trip just to be reunited, have a chilling moments with Bakasyonista friends and share life beyond travel. My 1st self-proclaimed laidback and nth time get-away with them. The kite in the picture is part of my surprise plan to enjoy this laidback activity. Though We tried hard to make it fly, wind was not friendly that time. We just used it as part of our fun photoshoot for the day.

Barangay Liwliwa is part of San Felipe town, Province of Zambales. Liwliwa beach is a place for skimboarding and surfing.

We stayed overnight in The Circle Hostel, the 1st of a chain of budget friendly eco-hostels in the Philippines. To know more about this hostel...

as per agreed yesterday, we hired a jeep roundtrip bound to kiltepan for sunrise viewing. we woke up 0400H, and then for a group of 7 we divide the transpo fee of php350. though we failed to see the most easy to access sea of clouds which i've seen last year, we manage to witness the heart-warming sunrise above the rice terraces. at 0630H, we left this stunning place. we drop-by 1st to navales bakeshop to buy some short breakfast breads and alight to st. mary's bell for a diy downtown trip. we entered st. mary's church which look-like in the western countries then proceed to the cemetery which is the start of the trail to echo valley and the famous hanging coffins of the locals.

important note (sagada):
Sagada is a 5th class municipality in the province of Mountain Province, Philippines. Sagada is famous for its "hanging coffins". This is a traditional way of burying people that is still utilized. Not anyone is qualified to be buried this way; one had to, among other things, be married and have grandchildren.

Banchetto to Mt. Samat to Dunsulan Falls Morning Escapade

the banchetto-bataan-pampanga day journey 1st part
february 12, 2011 saturday

objective: to visit the best tourist spot that fits to my budget at limited amount of time.
additional tasks: to conquer the itinerary on day-tour only

we planned this trip as our opening salvo for 2011 group getaway, composed of the cagbalete pips origins last year. since we aim for the night glow, we have to spend morning and afternoon sked to other must-see places nearby.

PART ONE: BANCHETTO

around 0200H, i've visited this friday night foody market street fiesta along emerald avenue after weeks of planning and failure repetition due weekend trip conflict. lots of people out there that most of them worked in a graveyard shift. i bought chicksilog php50 and calamansi juice php20. then we decided to buy monster burger as our take-out food for the next trip. hours before this meet-up our contacted hire van has just cancelled our reservation due to the traffic on this event. with the luck and cool appeal of my colleagues, we able to hire on the set time of 0500H.

Sagada of Mountain Province; what makes this town fascinating

objective: to visit the best tourist spots that fits my taste and budget accordingly.
additional tasks: to experience the best spelunking adventure in the northern part.

my first time to visit this promising town upnorth and i don't even know what awaits me there. i just know its a place where there is this famous cave my friends here in my work most talk about because of the extreme adventure. of course, at first i was scared, i'm not yet that adventurous that time. i'm just a simple sight-seer who just appreciates architecture wonders through my low-tech point and shoot.

during my stay, we used a downloaded map from the web as support to the one stranger who invited us. we went there as a group, 3 ladies and 2 gents with an itinerary starting from banaue for a sight-seeing side trip along the road for the famous rice terraces. now, after that event, my intincts told me i'm unconsiously attached to this place because most of the questions in a travel forum i replied directly using only the experience i gathered. i wonder why, or maybe because of the following reasons;

01. this is my 1st get-away experience with a group i just firstly know during the event
02. the place has very chilling ambiance
03. food trips are unique and deliciously good
04. landscapes are amazing
05. people are all nice
06. there are more tourists than locals due to peace and order
07. applicable for solo backpacking though expensive
08. one of my most recommended place to unwind
09. nature adventures are just walking distance
10. adventure activity are packed in one place
11. though 12 hours of drive, roads to sagada are +1 to must see
12. very cheap but very good accommodations
