HIGHEST VOLCANOES OF COSTA RICA (Jan. 2021)
 - Famous volcano day hikes near San Jose, all visited on budget DIY day-hike. 
- Irazu Volcano (3,432masl) is Costa Rica's highest volcano and the easiest to visit as there is a direct transportation near to the crater, almost no hiking needed but with the highest altitude gain of 2,200m from where the bus terminal located in the city
- Turrialba Volcano (3,340masl) is Costa Rica's 2nd highest volcano, the most expensive to visit and the most active that's why hiking trail is not always open to public. 
- Barva Volcano (2,906masl) is Costa Rica's 3rd highest volcano and the most challenging among these three due to 16km back trail distance and 700m altitude gain with limited bus departures

1. These Volcano day trips are the EASIEST to navigate among the Volcano Dayhike Series that I've done in Central America (Guatemala dayhikes has the hardest).

3. Irazu Volcano bus departures from San Jose is only 0800H daily and return at 1230H. Entrance ticket reservation required via https://serviciosenlinea.sinac.go.cr/
4. Turrialba Volcano hiking trail is an easy trek if in case open to public. Reservations required for entrance via https://serviciosenlinea.sinac.go.cr/
5. Barva Volcano has an easy trail also with 8km distance walking from the Sacramento junction bus stop to the entrance, it's hard to hitchhike as cars are very seldom.
