Camiguin-Norte Island's Solo Trek to Falls and Naguillan Beach

7 Days Budget DIY Trip to Babuyan Group of Islands
May 11 to 19, 2016

Camiguin-Norte Island is the 2nd largest of the Babuyan Islands (Calayan, Camiguin, Dalupiri and Babuyan Island) of Calayan Municipality. On this island, there is no ATM (bring cash), no GLOBE signal (use only SMART and SUN sim card but hard to find) and no Wifi. Electricity is active only from 3pm to 11pm daily. Convenience stores usually closed 7pm to 8pm. Sunset takes place in Naguillan Beach.

How to Go to Camiguin-Norte Island;
There are daily departures at 0700H-0800H only from Aparri and irregular schedule from Sta. Ana. One-way fare costs PhP250 for a 5hr boat ride.

The highlight or best scenic spot of unspoiled Camiguin-Norte Island (there is also Camiguin Island in the Southern Philippines) is the Camiguin Falls and Naguillan Beach. This falls and beach is located opposite to each other at around 5km east and west of the centertown. What I did on my afternoon tour was a self-guided solo trek to Camiguin Falls with asking the very, very few locals on the trail. The trail is around rocky to savage forest and easy but very confusing due to almost no locals passing-by and no markers; only instinct as a solo trekker. I salute you if you can trek Camiguin Falls without being lost ^_^. Afterwards, I walked alone routing the main road to the other side of the centertown going to Naguillan Beach for sunset photo shoot. Naguillan Beach is a pristine gray to white beach facing the small island and sunset. By the way, just like the Smith Volcano of Babuyan Island, I intended to hike the Mt. Camiguin Volcano (712masl). Asking the locals I found-out that the motorbike back-ride roundtrip to Mt. Camiguin base (sulfur gas spots) is PhP700-800 at around 45mins one-way travel. Also, it requires a day to trek the summit.
