2-days budget family tour in davao city
thursday to saturday august 02-04, 2012
We disembarked from the airplane around 2130H in davao airport then immediately proceed to taxi terminal outside. Since we are composed of 5 adults, 1 child and the cab can only accommodate maximum of 4 passengers, we split our transportation into two. Based on my research, taxi fare bound to My Hotel (our destination hotel to spent the night) is 150 pesos on minimum. We paid 200 pesos for both taxi's (total of 400, tip included) then proceed to 24-hr McDo for our late dinner due no other local resto open that night.
The next day, We woke-up as early as 0630H in the morning to have some breakfast in the nearby posh eatery then rode a multicab bound to Barge (davao port) via sasa avenue signboard. Next, we entered this port and paid php60 for the ferry fare. (10 pesos per head, no discount for children and senior citizens). After around 20 minutes we came to our destination tour for the day, Samal island. We went first to Fernandez beach resort (which I booked a reservation via SMS only) on a hired tricycle for 150 pesos. Afterwards, I seeked assistance on how can we have our samal island day tour on this resort. The caretaker / cashier helped us out by contacting his brother-in-law, a tricycle driver. We agreed a tour fare of php1,000 for all of us to visit the much-awaited tourist spots of this famous island in Mindanao.

Around 1100H, we left the Fernandez beach resort to start the round of day tour on this promising island in Hagimit falls. As you notice in the photos, Hagimit falls are small waterfalls scattered and cascaded all over. Nowadays, this astonishing nature landmark has been commercialized with respective private resorts to cater enjoyable vacation for every tourists visit and add some local jobs.

Hagimit falls and nature park is managed by Hagimit Cawag Neighborhood Association Incorporated and is located in Samal island. There is an environmental fee of 5 pesos for every tourist regardless of their age. For the entrance fee, visitors from 2 to 7 years old will only pay 20 pesos, while 40 pesos for adults. Separate charges apply if to rent cottages near the waterfalls.
I have spotted a stairway upstairs and found-out there is a new resort that is currently on-going construction. Its name is Hagimit rocky spring resort which started to build just mid-2010 only. Another entrance fee of 5 pesos to lurk and see what's inside.
