Samal Island its Tourist Attraction

2-days budget family tour in davao city
thursday to saturday august 02-04, 2012

Samal island or locals called it as Island Garden city of Samal is part of Metropolitan Davao which is only 2 kilometers away from the mainland. The city is the largest resort city of the Philippines, due to its good beaches. It has also numerous marine reefs and tranquil waters that lure the tourists to visit them. Because of these, the Department of Tourism named it one of the best visiting islands in Mindanao and now the fastest growing tourist destination in the country. Thus, tourism is the main source of income in the city.

After we visited and play with the strong current of Hagimit waterfalls, we went straight to Monfort cave. Monfort bat colony, located in the monfort cave is the largest colony of Geoffrey roussette's fruit bat (rousetteus amplexicaudatus). As per an estimate from bat conservation internation in 2006, the population in the monfort cave was approximately 1.8 million. This fact gave monfort cave the award for guinness world record.

Monfort cave entrance fee is 100 pesos for every adult visitor and 40 pesos for children. There is also an environmental fee of 5 pesos for every tourist regardless of age.

After we finish photo-ops on this bat conservation park, we went to white house which was once famous for being a haunted. Now, it was an ordinary residential house but somehow retained its form. No entrance, somehow not worthy to visit. We only lasted less than 20 minutes.
