Davao Oriental's Cascaded Waterscape, Aliwagwag falls

solo exploring eastern mindanao in 4-days
saturday to thursday august 04-09, 2012

After spending the night in a hostel near the Montevista bus terminal in Compostella valley, I woke up early to go straight in Davao oriental's best waterscape, Aliwagwag falls.

how to go here;
From Tagum city of Davao del norte, ride a bus (bachelor bus, yellow-green color) bound to Mati, davao oriental. if coming from davao city, bus bound to cateel, approximately 5 hours travel time. From cateel terminal, rent a habal-habal going to Aliwagwag falls, on estimated travel of 30-45 minutes.

There is no entrance fee going there and the falls is just a look away from the main bridge. This is the BEST cascaded waterfalls I have ever seen so far in the Philippines and a really worth and must visit.

Davao Oriental is the easternmost province of the country with Pusan Point as the easternmost location. The Philippine Sea, part of the Pacific Ocean, faces Davao Oriental to the east. Part of the province lies on an unnamed peninsula that encloses the Davao Gulf to the west. Davao Oriental is the copra (dried coconut meat) producer capital of the Philippines.

  1. Hi! I saw your photo of the Aliwagwag falls and I find it beautiful and very interesting. I am a researcher and I would like to ask permission to use one of your photos for a grade 4 textbook which will be published next school year. Please email your reply at maritescui@gmail.com. Thank you.
