my 7th consecutive get-away
june 17-20, 2011 friday to monday

objective: to visit the best tourist spots that fits my taste and budget accordingly.
additional tasks: to be stunned by our rice terraces and bring back the memories in sagada

batad-sagada week-end trekkings
day 1: journeying batad village

continue...

important note (sagada):
Sagada is a 5th class municipality in the province of Mountain Province, Philippines. Sagada is famous for its "hanging coffins". This is a traditional way of burying people that is still utilized. Not anyone is qualified to be buried this way; one had to, among other things, be married and have grandchildren.

DAY TWO:
SAGADA THE COMEBACK

before we head-off to bontoc, i requested to the jeepney driver to please stop-over to banaue rice terraces viewing deck for at most 5 minutes. he politely said yes and there it was, we witnessed 2 finest gift of God, from batad to banaue. we saw that landmark printed in 1000 peso bill but we cannot do also how it was shot due we were only limited in the small space in the viewing deck. after almost 2 hours, we reached the bontoc downtown. we didn't spend stop-over to hasema highway, the highest highway constructed in the philippines. then, all of the passengers n that jeep were the same passengers transferred for the transportation bound to sagada. for php50 fare, we head for the 3rd jeepney ride for the day.

around 1300H we finally reached sagada downtown. thus, from batad village, it took us 7 hours.    since 2 of us in our group knows already how circulation of tourism works in this place, we strategized some plan to not compromised time. simultaneously, while the other one is with the majority of groupmates and will immediately go to residential inn, my duty was to have a a vacant table for lunch in yoghurt house (peak time at that moment) and to ask the guides for our spelunking adventure after lunch. yes, it was really advantageous if you've been in the place before especially if i love how was my stay, items like this will automatically registered in my mind.

after lunch, we started our sumaguing cave spelunking journey at 1530H (last time we went for lumiang to sumaguing cave connection) by hiring a jeep at php350 roundtrip. we 1st visited the coffins in the entrance of lumiang cave then proceed to the other cave afterwards. we were 11 in a group, i was at the last. as usual, my part was to capture candid moments especially the exciting ones, hehehe !! 340 steps stairs, lot of stunning stalactites and stalagmites were the ones awaiting us inside. this were the reasons why for me, this cave was the best among the rest of the caves i've visited all over the philippines including in thailand. we went back to our lodge around 2000H. then, we spent our dinner in salt and pepper resto, 2 blocks away from yoghurt house.
