DAY ONE:
JOURNEYING BATAD VILLAGE

we arrive around 0630H in banaue downtown which has approximate 7 hours travel from sampaloc. since we were ahead of 1 hour in our itinerary, spent breakfast first nearby and bought some trail/picnic foods. around 0730H we started to head the 15km journey from banaue downtown to batad saddle point. there was landlside back then but the jeep managed to enter that narrow open road. we had an stop-over to a mini-rice terraces which has a viewing deck. after an hour, we reached saddle point. it will took 2 options to trek down the village which will cause a minimum of 1 hour travel for an average trekker. one option is to use the downstairs which has 420 steps but with time difference of 10 minutes against trailing the rough road. we chose to trail the rough road due that time sun was on its very hot rays. be sure to have drinking water if you are not into mountaineering activities.

we reached hillside inn around 1130H in batad village. we were accommodated by courteous local residents and assisted us to our room. our lodging's window is overlooking the astonishing, breathtaking view of the batad rice terraces. after we unpacked and rejuvenated ourselves for that very tiring activity, we had our lunch which has an expensive but reasonable rate. i ordered chicken with rice meal worth php100 and 2 sodas for 90. we plan to start another set of trekking journey but this time crossing the splendid rice terraces on our way to the hidden tappiya falls between the mountains.

landslide along the road to banaue

at 1230H we begun trekking the 2nd part adventure in batad. we crossed the terraces of the most vivid green rice plantation i've ever seen so far. some stop-over for photo-ops and rest period. when we reached this rightmost part of the rice terraces, another sweat-generating challenge awaits as we saw this very steepy stairs going down without any handrails. so after over an hour trekking, we finally saw additional tourist attraction batad village offers, the majestic tappiya falls. spent some photo-ops and bathing, we left by 1530H. again, trekking back our lodging and the time was much costing due to uphill trail. we arrived before it gets dark. any form of loud sound like videoke especially if its for entertainment purposes is prohibited on this place.

the following day, we woke up as early as 0500H to achieved that 0900H departure of jeepney from banaue bound to bontoc, capital of mountain province. at 0600H, we didn't took any breakfast, we immediately walked the trail going to the saddle point. while the trail was nearing the point, i thought of taking that stairs going up, a challenge of 420 steps. of course, the difficulties molded as an achievement when i reached the top, what a morning exercise indeed. we left saddle point at 0800H. that landslide yesterday was still there, since there were lot of tourist visited batad that time,  the bontoc jeepney waited for us at the other end. and so there it goes, we made it to the public transpo for another adventure to remember.
