DAY TWO:
ILIGAN CITY

iligan city, the city of majestic waterfalls, is the 2nd part of my road trip adventure. lanao del norte is known as the waterfalls collector because of its 22 counts.

most of them is found in iligan city and very accessible to tourist. the best of them is the high-power maria cristina falls which tagged as the 2nd highest waterfall in the philippines. Maria Cristina Falls is a waterfall of the Agus River on the island of Mindanao. It is sometimes called the "twin falls" as the flow is separated by a rock at the brink of the waterfall. this falls is also used for hydro-electric plant by national power corporation and the area is a developing adventure location which they called NPC nature park. activities include, tree-top 640m zipline, wallclimbing, and future plans of kayaking and cable car. you can go there by taking a jeepney, fare cost only php7 from south terminal bound to buru-un and alight on a bridge after a river.

next stop was tinago falls, with 3-km distance jeepney ride, 10km ride habal-habal and a whooping 365 steps to descend (imagine a 365 steps to climb). this falls has a unique physical attributes of having wide part of mountain to have freshwater to fall. also, all personnel who wants to bath or just body-dip are required to wear a life-vest for safety. Tinago is a Filipino term meaning "hidden", the falls being hidden in a deep ravine. Trekking to the falls requires 365 descending steps called the winding staircase. The falls is high, its very cold waters cascading beautifully into a deep and calm basin-like pool which appears like a blue-colored lagoon. Under the falls is a small cave where people can enter and listen to the rumbling waters.

lastly, the timoga spring which is located in between the 2 mentioned falls along the highway. ideal for aqua massage which is what i'm always longing when im with a waterfall. the current flowing is as the same drop as the ma. cristina, but the height differs greatly. Timoga Springs is a spring located at Timoga-Buru-un, in Iligan City, Philippines It is well-known for icy-cool and crystal-clear springs flowing freely to swimming pools of different sizes. There are around five spring resorts along the highway, which is easily accessible by land to all locals and tourists. The source of water of Timoga Springs comes from Lake Lanao in the only Islamic city in the Philippines-Marawi City, Lanao del Sur-which is 37 kilometers away.
